ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE |

Working at Stan Winston Studios, I was assigned with assembling a robot puppet named "Crash Test Dummy". The skin was a real challenge to fabricate. It used a technology for 3-D photographs called lenticular imagery. A clear plastic sheet molded with linear lenses called lenticules. This is precision placed on a computer generated image and, depending upon the artwork, can create some strikingly realistic depth. We purchased several sheets at a pretty high price and I developed a method to vacuform this material over shapes without damaging the lenticules. Once assembled, the robot appeared to have futuristic circuitry deep inside its body. It looked really cool. I then puppeteered it along with other robots for the shoot.
