This is a really cool device. Alex Vuckovich made the aluminum parts and I provided the electro-mechanics. I custom built a bright lcd backlight with an orange filter and drove it with a PIC microcontroller to display ARMED or DISARMED when the ENTER button is pushed.		When a second button is pressed, the led's bink in sequence, then a dor pops open. I used an electro-magnet to hold the door closed. A light spring was all it took to open the door as the magnet was turned off. I also built another version in German.
During the break-in, this device is sent in to crack the alarm system. Notice the German text on the alarm pad.		I illuminated the keypad and drove the lcd also with a PIC. Triggered by wireless control, the keys turn red as each key is automatically activated.

This thing played the part of the main server for the security system. It featured three custom orange lcd's and two blue ones that constantly animated with tecno-data. The latch sported indicator lights that toggled between red and green when triggered by a wireless remote control. All that internal circuitry seen in the viewing window is of course fake.
