This is a really cool device. Alex Vuckovich made the aluminum parts and I provided the electro-mechanics. I custom built a bright lcd backlight with an orange filter and drove it with a PIC microcontroller to display ARMED or DISARMED when the ENTER button is pushed. |
When a second button is pressed, the led's bink in sequence, then a dor pops open. I used an electro-magnet to hold the door closed. A light spring was all it took to open the door as the magnet was turned off. I also built another version in German. |

During the break-in, this device is sent in to crack the alarm system. Notice the German text on the alarm pad. |
I illuminated the keypad and drove the lcd also with a PIC. Triggered by wireless control, the keys turn red as each key is automatically activated. |

This thing played the part of the main server for the security system. It featured three custom orange lcd's and two blue ones that constantly animated with tecno-data. The latch sported indicator lights that toggled between red and green when triggered by a wireless remote control. All that internal circuitry seen in the viewing window is of course fake. |
